Best Man-girl

So I am sitting Boston's Logan airport on Friday afternoon. I have spent the week with one of my dearest friends and her new husband. She lives in the South of France with her bf/new-hub and they were planning on coming over for a week of vacation - see some sights, friends, shopping and good American food. We all thought......
A few weeks ago she and I were on Skype - a totally fantastic way to communicate these days - and she told me that while they were over here, she & the then bf were going to get married by her father who is a priest.....I mean really what do you say other then "where do I fly into and when?"
I got into White Plains, NY tuesday afternoon for a whirl-wind adventure of a marriage between my dearest friend and her very French bf. Now, once I told them that I was coming to witness the nuptials, the bf asked me to be his best man...girl. He had never met any of her family in the states and as I was the only one to know him, I fit the bill.
They were married on St. Paddy's day in a beautiful stone church by her father. It really was a fantastic thing to be part of.
We spent the next two days eating, drinking, being merry, drinking and eating. Seriously, I have had it with eating out for a good month and am looking forward to a good detox!!
The new French hub (with the help of my dear friend), for my efforts of being Best Man-girl, let me pick out my thank you/you rock gift. And what did I pick.....a pink flamingo of course which we named Otis.
So here I sit in Boston's Logan airport after seeing them off at the taxi queue with Otis the pink flamingo hanging out of my carry-on bag wondering the best place for it in my apartment. Which is really so much more fun than thinking of all the work I have to go back to.
Spring Break 2010 was really no break at all, but I would not have it any other way.
